4worldlovers: Palace Theatre, the live music and event venue in downtown Saint Paul, is partnering with the crew behind Wrecktangle Pizza to present a new concept, Wrestaurant at the Palace.

Concertgoers, residents, and the downtown Saint Paul workforce can look forward to a new neighborhood eatery. Palace Theatre, which is co-operated by First Avenue and Jam Productions, selected notable GMA’s Ultimate Pizza innovators, Wrecktangle Pizza, to develop this all-new dining destination.

Wrestaurant at the Palace offers classic Wrecktangle pizzas, sandwiches, and slices while introducing new dishes and a distinctive cocktail menu. A slice window features quick order and grab-and-go items, and the full-service dine-in restaurant and 40-seat bar highlights Wrestaurant at the Palace’s full menu.

Since 1970, First Avenue has grown to include several unique venues throughout Minneapolis & St. Paul.

Guitar luminary + Tuareg folk hero Omara “Bombino” Moctar returns to The Cedar stage! On September 13th, two days before the release of his new album via Partisan Records: "Sahel."

‘Sahel’ takes its name from the vast African region spanning East-West from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, and is the highly anticipated follow-up to his 2018 album Deran,’ which turned Bombino into the first-ever Grammy-nominated artist from Niger.


In performance and on this new release, Bombino plays with sparks-spraying guitar pyrotechnics, punctuated by howling ululations.It's a plea for unity and solidarity across the Sahel, delivered in his native Tamasheq. “Let's defend our people because we are the same regardless of our geographical position,” he sings while shouting out the Tuareg people throughout the region.

The Cedar joins the Walker Art Center in co-presenting the Minnesota debut of Alabaster dePlume.

Coming from the red-hot London jazz/new music scene, dePlume presents an evening of tender and spare songs filled with existential comedy and spiritual enlightenment.

4worldlovers: The School of Music is housed in Ferguson Hall, a state of the art building opened in 1985. Ferguson Hall boasts over 70 security-monitored practice rooms, numerous classrooms, two piano labs, an organ studio, an electronic music lab, a music therapy lab, two music technology labs, four chamber music rehearsal rooms, and large ensemble rehearsal rooms for bands, orchestras, opera productions, and choruses.

Lloyd Ultan Recital Hall is primarily used for School of Music recitals and master classes. Seating approximately 160, the Lloyd Ultan Recital Hall is an ideal venue for solo recitals, chamber music performances, and master classes.

STRUM (Sound, Technology, and Research at the University of Minnesota) Electronic Music Studios

​Studio One: STRUM's Studio One is a large composition/recording/production studio featuring three rooms: the main studio, an isolation/recording room, and an AV production/mastering room. Studio One houses three well-equipped Mac Pro workstations, each tailored to specific production and recording work, along with our collection of analog and digital synthesizers. STRUM Studio One is primarily a limited access space for graduate composition majors and students enrolled in advanced music technology courses. Additional access is available with faculty or staff approval on a project by project basis. Questions can be directed to Michael Duffy, SOM Music Technology, Media Lab, and Studios Specialist.

Production Studio: The Production Studio is a one-room audio mixing/mastering suite with post-production audio and hardware. The studio features space and equipment for rehearsals of electro-acoustic music as well as audio mixing and video editing. The Production Studio houses one Mac Pro workstation, along with two iMacs and laptop-ready workstations.

Media Lab: Created as a space for individual work as well as class meetings, the Media Lab is a large lab and classroom containing 15 iMac computers with MIDI keyboards and music notation, audio-video editing, and composition software.

Located on the lower level of Ferguson Hall, the Music Library is a repository for 70,000 scores and books, 400 periodical titles, 30,000 CDs, LPs, 78s, videotapes, and audio cassettes, 12 CD listening stations, 13 audio tape listening stations, 3 VCRs, and 12 turntables, all available to School of Music students. The library also includes a collection of rare books, manuscripts, and sheet music from the 14th century to the present.

Located within the Music Library, the Roy A. Schuessler Vocal Arts Center houses the Vocal Resource Room, which contains a variety of books, video and audio tapes, vocal music scores, and recordings. The primary focus of the collection is on vocal pedagogy and performance. The room is available for study, research, seminars, and committee meetings by advance permission of the library staff.

The Organ Studio houses the Van Daalen organ, a two-manual, mechanical-action organ comprising 32 speaking stops and 41 ranks of pipes. While certain stops of the organ reflect a derivation from Dutch and French styles of building, the instrument is essentially eclectic in design, reflecting a desire to provide an instrument upon which organists may study and perform a comprehensive body of literature.
